Hurmat ul Ain is a Pakistani interdisciplinary artist, educator, and researcher whose practice explores the complexities of identity, gender, the body, and the socio-political structures that shape everyday life. Working across performance, photography, video, sculpture, and installation, she creates thought-provoking works that challenge accepted norms and invite audiences to question systems of power, representation, and belonging. A graduate of the National College of Arts (NCA), Lahore, Hurmat earned her MFA in Performance Art from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago (SAIC) as a Fulbright Scholar. She later taught at the School of Art, Design and Architecture at NUST, Islamabad, where she played a significant role in curriculum development and arts education before pursuing doctoral research at York University, Toronto. Widely recognized for her long-standing artistic collaboration with Rabbya Naseer, Hurmat has exhibited extensively in Pakistan and internationally. Their collaborative projects employ performance as a powerful medium to examine social conventions, collective memory, gender politics, and the invisible boundaries that govern public and private life. Through carefully constructed visual narratives, her work encourages critical reflection on contemporary society while expanding the language of performance art within South Asia. Today, Hurmat ul Ain continues to live and work in Toronto, where her artistic practice intersects with academic research, contributing to global conversations on contemporary art, feminism, and cultural identity. Inked is proud to provide museum-grade fine art printing services for Hurmat ul Ain's photographic and mixed-media works, ensuring that every detail is reproduced with exceptional archival quality for exhibitions, collections, and future generations.
