Malika Abbas: Memory, Motherhood, and the Art of Visual Narratives Malika Abbas is a Karachi-based visual artist whose multidisciplinary practice brings together miniature painting, photography, and archival research. A graduate in Miniature Painting with a minor in Photography, her work explores deeply personal themes of memory, loss, identity, and motherhood. Drawing from the profound experience of losing her mother and later becoming a mother herself, Abbas creates poetic visual narratives that blur the boundaries between photography and traditional miniature painting. Her artistic language often combines delicate miniature techniques with photographic imagery, producing works that are both intimate and conceptually layered. Through this fusion, she investigates how personal histories and emotional experiences become part of larger cultural and collective memories. Alongside her studio practice, Malika has made significant contributions to Pakistan's visual culture. She spent over fourteen years as a photojournalist and archivist with White Star Pvt. Ltd., the photographic agency of the DAWN Media Group, where she documented contemporary Pakistan while helping preserve one of the country's most important photographic archives. Her expertise in photography has also led her to become a faculty member at the Indus Valley School of Art and Architecture, while serving as Head Curator at Gandhara Art Space, where she continues to support emerging and established artists. With exhibitions and curatorial projects spanning contemporary art and photography, Malika Abbas has established herself as an important voice in Pakistan's visual arts landscape. Inked is proud to provide museum-grade fine art printing services for Malika Abbas, faithfully reproducing the subtle textures, tonal depth, and intricate details that define her unique fusion of photography and miniature art.
